weed killer

I caught my husband mixing up some weed killer in a watering can on the kitchen worktop. When he spilt a bit, I went mad. He didn't seem to think it was a big deal but I thought weed killer was quite dangerous. Is it? He thinks I am over-reacting

Generally depends on the weedkiller but the kitchen worktop is not really the place for mixing chemicals

Just a word of warning, I'd keep that watering can only for weedkiller now, and use another for your plants, because even after thorough cleaning, you still can't be too sure its all gone.

Your right Jan - weedkiller can be very dangerous, and I don't think you're over-reacting at all. As 'hammerman' says, the kitchen isn't the place for mixing chemicals.

Just read the instructions on the label, which your husband should have done. Although it may be safe when correctly prepared and used, all warnings on the label need to be strictly adhered to.

One more thing, if any weedkiller is left, ensure it's kept in the original container, and not transferred to an old lemonade bottle or similar, if it's a liquid.

I think your husband is showing great disregard for a product that needs to be treated with care, especially if you have children or pets about the place.

Thank you all for your comments. I have shown them to my husband and I think he has realised the error of his ways. I do not think he will be doing any more mixing in the kitchen.
