Bird Bath

We have a beautiful old bird bath, at least 60 years old, the main support is concrete, 4ft high and 2ft across at the widest moulding. The structure has four steel rods running vertically, it is now cracking and splintering, the cracks have widened , running either side vertically from top to bottom, the plinth is OK., is there any filler on the market that we could use, bearing in mind that the actual bird bath it has to support weighs around 13 kg. Any advice gratefully accepted. Judy

could you not make a concrete mix and fill the holes in?

you will be very lucky to match it for colour though?

That is an option, thanks Rugely, and I'm not fussed about the colour as it will weather very quickly, I was wondering if there was a filler that would do the jobby.

Have a word with the local diy shop. There is a resin filler where you mix two compounds together , it has the consistency of firm putty which can be used to fill gaps. It sets very quickly and very hard as well as adhering to the concrete. I used some on a concrete step about 15 years ago and it's still there.
I am afraid I can't remember what it was called but it is out there if you can find it.

As far as matching the colour is concerned I was told to paint the bird bath with yoghurt and it will quickly gain an aged apearance.
