I have a sock stuck solid in the tube of my vac cleaner. Won't budge. Has anyone got any fantastic ideas?

Tried the wire coathanger already - and gave up.

Hi Bowie,
have you tried taking the pipe off and poking a garden cane or broom handle down it ?
Question Author
Yes was out in the garden last evening with my selotape two garden canes, wire coathanger, fishing rod .........

its just so compacted - I really need some enormous tweezers!

Stupid problem really!!!
Hi Bowie

one thing you could try is to get a long screw tape it to the end of the cane push the cane down the tube turn the cane a couple of turns clockwise, this might take the screw into the sock, you could then pull it out,let us know if it works, good luck, Ray

Thats a good idea will try it this eve!

Thank you
No more hoovering under the bed, without looking first eh?

Good idea of rays, you could also try the snake (used for drains etc) pulls out anything wedged in tight spaces - good luck!
when i get stuff stuck up my pipe i blast it out with the hose pipe. Hold it up at both ends for the pressure to build up then lwet one end go on the floor and tonnes of stuff comes out, well it does with mine. could try the jet wash if you got one
God janetsflower, that sounds painfull, hope you don't get stuff stuck up your pipe very often !!!!

Good idea though, like sort of colonic irrigation for a vac !!!
