Access to a path

10 years ago with my neighbours permission I build a gate in my back fence which opened on to a pathway between the houses behind me. I have continued to use this although less so recently. This weekend my new neighbours stated they could no longer allow me access as the pathway was theirs. Have I established a right of access in the time I have been using it?
