Two problems here! I want to dig a fishpond alongside my brick garage. Garage has damp proof course 1 brick above ground and I want to put fountain on wall that feeds gently into raised dwarf wall pond. Do not want to disturb garage foundations. How far away from wall should pond be to avoid subsidence and/or should I backfill with concrete? Any sites on pond creation would be appreciated. Second problem is that when we moved in (1987) garage had crack from top of bricks to brick above damp course that owner said was settling cracks. Built in 1953 these cracks have not moved at all but the 1cm gap will have to be filled with something before we start, any ideas?
