If you are thinking of tiling the ceiling with Ceramic tiles - I wouldn't advise it - think what would happen if one worked its way loose and fell onto a childs head or someone elses.
Especially if there is a room above it with floorboards - someone jumping about upstairs would easily cause one to fall off - there are plenty of Polystyrene tiles available on the market instead.

are these water proof? the thing is the shower room is under the stairs and there is some moist/damp on the ceiling. as it is all artexed at the minute i was just gonna check the excisting extractor fan cos i don't think its doing its job then tile the whole thing out. where can you get theses tiles you're on about and are they easy to fit? thanks for your reply.
Moisture on the ceiling is caused by condensation - moist air hitting a cold surface. Use the extractor fan during your shower and let it run on for a good 10mins after also to expel any remaining moisture - polysytrene tiles are splashprrof at the least and to be honest, I was thinking after I posted the last answer I haven't seen any for a good number of years now - doesn't mean they are not available any more - they were applied using an adhesive especially for use with polysterene

i think plastic cladding is the ansmer but thanks for your help.
I think you need to work on getting the moisture out, not keeping it in there by putting up a rubber or ceramic tile ceiling.

yeah thats why i'm checking the fan and or replacing it
Hi demo,

If it is in a very confined space I would say you should consider putting a fan in that has got inbuilt humidistat, this will run untill all trace of moisture has gone, Ray
I could be wrong, but I thought that polystyrene tiles were illegal now due to the fact that they`re a fire hazard.
They are illegal, they give off toxic fumes
should have added if burning
