Hob brite is excellent. It is intended for ceramic hobs but cleans oven doors beautifully.

I use it with one of those cheap stainless steel pan scourers - they don't scratch the glass.
sillet bang or is it cillet bang not sure works on mine .

Many thanks - I will give them a go
Before applying the spray and elbow grease I always use one of those scrapers designed to get paint off glass, short handle with a Stanley knife blade in them. This gets rid of the great bulk of the stuck on goo and then the spray finishes it off. Mind you don't cut the rubber seal if you have one.
Try 'Cif'. You can get it at any supermarket. It's a creamy base and has a texture like fine exfoliator. I used it on my oven and all the oil marks that were caked on that couldn't come off with Fairy liquid, amazingly dissappeared. You have to try it!
but a steam cleaner such as the shark portable steam cleaner - no effort and sparkly clean oven doors!

Thanks to you all - the steam cleaner sounds wonderful !!!
If you can remove the glass from the door, then soak it in a VERY hot and fairly strong solution of any bio washing powder for about 30 minutes. This will soften the grime and you should be able to wash it off with a foam scourer. Don`t leave it soaking for too long or the water will go cold and you`ll be back to square one!
