Had one in a container for the summer, beautiful purple flowers. Still has some flowers on it. Do you think I should bring it in for the winter. If so, when do you think I should bring it in. Will have to be in the house as I don't have a greenhouse or conservatory. Will it come back next year?

You definately need to bring it in for the winter, I would say october before it starts getting real cold and night and definately before the frosts arrive. Depressing thought. Yes it should flower again next year, but don't over water it
Bougainvillea does just fine down on the Med. Here in the UK it is really only viable as a conservatory plant, so yes, bring it in before you get any cold nights. Just when that should be depends upon where in the UK you live. There can be a month's difference between Cornwall and Ross & Cromarty
This is really a Mediterranean plant and won't survive outside in our climate, even with winters supposedly getting warmer through global warming, so you should definitely bring in indoors now as the evenings are getting chilly. If you don't have a greenhouse and don't have the space indoors, you could try putting a really heavy duty clear plastic bag lined with some bubblewrap over the whole plant and tieing it round the pot to anchor it, and then moving the plant to the most sheltered part of the garden. I don't know whether this would save it, but if we have a mild winter it could be worth a try.
