Moss Killer.

What should I use to eradicate Moss from my Driveway?
(Tarmac-- 6mm. agregate--unsmooth surface, still quite solid and free of ruts, potholes etc. )

There is a liquid on the market that I use and does a excellent job - it is called Armillatox - it is similar to Jeyes fluid in its makeup/smell but does a great job.
It used to be advertised as a weedkiller but due to EU regulations the Company couldn't afford the cost of some very expensive research that was required - however they re-classified it and now market it as a patio cleaner.
Just dilute it on water and spray it on with can or sprayer.

I've tried Armillatox. It works but doesn't last. As for Jet Washers....I am thinking that they lift the moss and spread it about even further.

you're right, vivandorron, the only way is to kill the moss with a proprietary moss killer solution. Jet washers spread the moss, fatal if you have a lawn nearby. After killing the moss, I regularly wash my drive and paths with a solution of jeyes.

Nothing will work permanently - the reason Armillatox
" wont last " is because it is new growth of moss/algae that will keep on forming. it does kill the moss/algae at the time of spraying.
As johnizere says , the best thing is to sparay it regularly.

Ah well! It's back to Armillatox which doesn't go very far at a dilution rate of 1:100.
I checked out the site you gave BBWCHATT and it confirmed my understanding that diluted Domestic Bleach will work. The question is how much dilution?

Hey johnizere:- If you wash your drive with Jeyes, that in itself is a moss killer......but like Armillatox is expensive.

I use Ferrous (iron) sulphate - two tablespoons to the watering can full to kill moss on my lawn. Very quick, very cheap but it will grow back. Get it from hardware shop (Wilkinsons) or garden centre. Its used for lime hating plants like azaleas and heathers and in expensive branded lawn moss killers

Ferrous Sulphate is O.K. on a lawn but I think it can cause a brown staining on hard surfaces.

The new formula Jeyes fluid no longer kills moss (according to an e-mail I've received from them). The formula was changed in 2003 and the only hope is that somewhere there is a stock of old formula Jeyes fluid.

Good evening egbut..........I'm amazed that you've picked-up a question which I posted over a twelve months ago. However I appreciate the info which you have given to me about jeyes fluid. There's no doubt that many products are no longer what they were; it's all to do with Health and Safety, E.C regs etc. It's a tragedy from my point of view when I think that for a lifetime I've been using them without any ill effects.
