does anyone know the easiest way to dig out grout from my bathroom tiles? I want to re-grout quite a large area. I have tried a scraper, a chisel, even a supposedly grout removing tool. I have also tried a dremel drill, but the attachment kept coming off and has now broken!

hi nikki
ther is no easy way! i tried all of the items you have but found that a good stanley knife was most efective but it does make your hand ache after a while! but its all worth it once regrouted and all the tiles are polished
godd luck

I use an old wood chisel for grout removal. But it's not easy, take your time & keep having a rest...there are no short-cuts, sorry.

Try a Fein multimaster master tool with the appropriate blade to grind out the old grout. It is like a small angle grinder which takes a variety of attachments to do small jobs like fine sanding, cutting, removing old putty and the like. Not cheap but gets the job done.

As zebUK said there is no need to remove all the old grout, just enough to get a key for the new to adhere to.
les saisies could they rent one of those tools you were talking about? Would that be cheaper?
