Shower electric cord
9 Answers
Hey right we have an electric shower , and to turn it on we have to pull a cord (similar to that of a pull cord light that u also find in the bathroom for the light). Anyways this works the majority of the time but it keeps going weird sometimes itll work and other times it wont. When i pull the cord to turn it on its fine, but then after a shower i go to turn it off and the cord just will not pull at all and even though the shower is turned off at the wall, this pull cord wont allow me to turn the power off completely. It just doesnt click at all when you pull it after a shower. I thought as it is located on the ceiling right above the actual shower could it be the steam making the switch trip out and not work? Any advice would be helpful cheers :)

I very much appreciated woodchoppers advice- as he advised me on repairing it andto be careful by turning off the mains i was simply making a joke not to worry as i wouldnt attempt it as im a typical girl with no knowledge on electrical things and asked him if he thought it was just a faulty switch rather than the steam from the shower causing it to trip out. I was not abrupt and even did an emoticon which proves this so get your facts right before patronising people.
Pull cord just above the shower ? sorry I am not an electrician but I would have thought that ANYTHING electrical should not be placed over a shower, i.e. where the steam rises I Think its time to have a chat with your friendly local electrician and and ask if it has to be i moved. I maybe wrong but if it was my house I would not be happy about the pull cords location.
Nope it isnt good is it...its pretty much directly above the shower and about a foot to the side which is hardly anything is it? I thought maybe the steam was casuing it to trip out and not work I really dont know though. Dont know if my landlords would do anything or the estate agents that I am with?or wether it is down to them or not?
