why is it that every time we have had a new house, we get these horrible green flies with long clear wings. about 3/4 inch long btw.one just appeared on our wall, first tim in 10 wks since we moved;. we got alot in our last 2 new houses. just what are they? i was wondering if they were a sort of pupae.they are nasty and scary whatver they are!!
I think they are probably lacewings, although they don't look very nice to some people, I think they are beautiful insects and they are very good for the garden they are just sheltering for the winter, don't disturb them and they should just stay where they are and not bother anyone. They will find their own way out when the weather turns a bit warmer.
thanks for that, yes it is a lacewing but i still dont like em. does seem strange though that they always seem to be in brand new houses, my friends dont know what im talking about.do they love new plaster or something????!!
lacewings! whether you like them or not, they live there in the winter , and will provide food for the birds in summer, so if you care about the birds and enjoy them , creepy crawlies are in the food chain!I share my house with any winter lodger with 6 or 8 legs, as long as they keep out of my bed!! good luck.
