i have a fig tree that the roots are getting close to my house foundation. what do i do

To put your mind at rest, Fig trees are not known to have a particularly invasive root system, they are fairly shallow, relativly thin and soft and flexable.
If you are still worried, you could root prune it by digging a small trench with a spade around it at about 18" out from the trunk and about a foot deep. This will have a stunting effect on the tree and stop it from becoming too big.
If your still in doubt get an expert in to do a survey on the likelyhood of subsidence. Good Luck Tbird+
