Air coolers

Does anyone have an air COOLER as opposed to an air CONDITIONING unit? How effective is it?

The air cooler relies on ice cold water in the water tank of the cooler being transported on a fabric blanket material and then blowing air across/through it to reduce the air temperature outlet, NOT terribly effective but it does ensure that the air is not dry????? Jim
