How do I remove foam from a carpet?

I have just spilt some bathroom cleaner onto my carpet and I cannot get rid of the foam residue. I've sponged it continuosly but it's still there!

any ideas anyone please?

Maybe leave it to dry then hoover it up this will get rid of most of it. Then go at it again with the sponge.
