How do I keep my cut tulips from drooping in the vase? I've heard the one about pricking each stem with a pin, but I shouldn't think that looks very attractive! Any other suggestions gratefully received! Thank you.
Trim a good inch off the stalks then plunge neck deep into water and leave 2 hrs. Tulips continue to grow in the vase and this is the other reason that they flop, so be prepared to re trim stalks. These together usually work for me. modern arrangements bind tulips together and surround with leaves which would also support them. pricking the stems sounds like too much hard work!!
Thank you both very much! I can't say I've ever heard of the coin trick, but I'll certainly try it with my next bunch of tulips which, no doubt, I will have to buy myself as no-one else ever buys me flowers...... boo hoo .... :-( Oh, it's sad! ;-)
