I sealed some exposed areas in bottom of my shower with a multi purpose sealant, it said it could be used on bath, showers, kitchens etc.

I think I did a good jod applying the stuff as it was my first time, and followed all the instructions. It gave different drying times for different thicknesses of application, of 48-72 hours.

But it has been over a week and the sealant is still tacky to touch, which must mean I have still to wait longer??? The room is fairly dry and I have even had a dehumidifier in the room to dry a carpet area I had to shampoo. The dehumidifier turned the room into a dry warm room for 24 hrs, so even that should have helped surely.

Any thoughts. I cannot avoid usingthe shower for much longer.

It will be a polymer based sealant. No good. Go to a plumbers merchants, not B and Q , Homebase, they are too dear.

You Need a white coloured SILICON sealant, get an application gun as well. Will dry in 4/5 hours.

IT MUST SAY SILICON ON TUBE,

Scrape the old stuff out, it will never set.
There are different qualities - may say '15yrs' or '25yrs' on the tube. Worth paying a bit more for that application to buy the best stuff.
evostick ice white for showers/ baths wilkos 8 per tube screwfix 9 per tube
superior quality worth the
extra you pay, easy to use and looks great. look how you have wasted time and money on an unsuitable product
good luck
sorry i got the name mixed up the sealant is by unibond and as i say it is on special in wilkos, i bought some to use two weeks ago
with the better makes the sealant will not go black/mouldy as quickly as cheaper makes.it took 24 hours to cure

I bought a Unibond one from focus, I did not try to save money, but bought one which was for bathrooms, which was mould resistant etc and came in a compressed can so no gun was needed. I have far too much money spare and would not have cut corners on purpose to save money but more likely I may have bought the wrong one as a result of negligence on my part. But thanks for pointing it out lol!
