Have just had a pine door stripped....Does the door need to be neutralized (some say weak vinegar solution). What can someone suggest as a light coloured wax to put on the door

You should wash it down with a weak solution of washing-up liquid and water and then clean water. When it's dry, if you're going for a natural colour, apply raw linseed oil into the wood to give it back some moisture (boiled linseed oil is darker and will make the wood slightly darker). Once that has soaked in and the wood is dry to the touch, stain/varnish/wax as you please.
