Like the previous Ab'rs have said it's quite hard to do some of it yourself but you might be able to do some if you're quite good at DIY. If you've got uneven walls it can be hard to do yourself because they can adjust backs/sides of units much more easily than you can bodge it yourself! When I had a new kitchen done I got B&Q to do it because although it was expensive it was less hassle because they arrange all the different trades in the right order with contractors, the work is guaranteed and if we had done it badly and the kitchen looked a mess I would not only have been disappointed but potentially have lost money on my house value. However, both my husband and I are hopeless at anything beyond decorating so we're probably a special case. I have to say that 1500 doesn't sound too bad compared to what we paid but a lot of the price on ours consisted of extra sockets and moving the gas cooker point. Good luck with the project.
