How do you increase the size of the pilot light so that it reaches the thermo coupler.


The pilot light is too low. It must be adjustable

the pilot light is adjustable by using a small screw on the multi functional valve, if you are sure that the pilot flame has deteriorated and it is not a problem with the position of the flame relative to the thermocouple tip.
the fact that your knowledge cannot solve a reasonably basic problem or which sites to go onto to find out technical support in the form of a instruction manual concerns me and i think you should consider calling a corgi registered service engineer.
i am not trying to drum up trade for someone else but this really is a straightforward job if you have the right training

....................typical builder...........always late.............just seen your Q Doc..................I'm no Corgi, but Terence is right. You must remember that plumbers are always right LOL
It is a simple enough adjustment, but it might be indicative of a related problem. We don't want to lose you :o)

You need to check aeration. Also satisfy you're self there is no blockage in the pilot injector. Then check the gas rate and working pressures at the appliance burner pressure test piont + check for gas tightness of the multifunctional valve and pilot tube. When you are happy with all this then and ONLY THEN you may adjust the pilot flame so it is 10mm - 14mm in length and plays freely enveloping the thermocoupling. As it is against the law for anyone other than a CORGI registered engineer to undertake all or any part of the above mentioned tests and adjustments, I sugest you leave well alone and leave it to us guys to sort it out. A simple annual service will do the trick & will ensure you're safety aswell.

I am a gifted jack of all trades, I have fitted kitchens and bathrooms and installed a full CH system in my own property. You can as I understand install gas appliances in your own property as long as you are competent to do so.


I have no manual for this boiler and therefore not sure which is the adjusting screw. Common sense would say it is the one closest to the pipe feeding the pilot.

Sorry Doc you are incorrect yet correct at the same time lol. You can as you say do gas related work if you are competent to do so. But that means and in the laws eyes only a fully qualified CORGI engineer is deemed to be competent. You are not classed as competent in your'e home or not it makes no difference you cannot legally do the work required.
