Ants and Spiders in annexe

Can someone help with this.

Have a wooden annexe in garden and family and friends often stay but always complaining about the ants and the spiders that are in the place.

How do I get rid once and for all?

It needs decorating so I thought maybe if I just seal everything up then this would help?

How they get in is a darn mystery...

Any ideas?

you can now buy insect repellents that you plug in that emit a sonic wave(for want of a better word) that all insects hate so steer clear of. you can buy them from most good garden centres and they are pretty cheap-around �20. i have a one at home and havent seen an insect of any description since plugging it in. plus it only uses a few pence worth of electricity every month.

An excellent spray I found is a lot cheaper and can be sprayed around doors and windows is `No More Spiders`and `Nippon` for ants. Don`t use Nippon on a porous surface as it will disappear.

Ants hate talcum powder. Go to your 99p store and buy some, shake all around the edges outside the doors and windows, they won't come in any more. How you actually get the ones out, that you have already, well I don't know that one ! But don't kill spiders, get them out with a broom or one of those 'humane' spider traps, like a plastic box. You will probably find 'babies' all bound up on the ceiling at this time of year as well, make sure you get rid of those or you will have the next generation to deal with.

The sonic devices are excellent. Work for mice down the scale to ants! For creepy crawlies, try citronella, you can get it from most chemists or health food shops as an essential oil. Mix a few drops with some water and put in a hand spray (a rinsed out bathroom or kitchen cleanser container will do). Then spray around the walls, doorway and skirtings etc., this is a safer option that standard bug sprays as it harmless for pets and children.
