How do you clean your George Foreman?

The non-stick coating has worn away on my George Foreman grill.
I recently cooked some sausages on it, think there must have been a lot of fat in them, and the grill plate has gone all gungy(?) and horrible. The resulting mess is stuck on like glue.
Don't know what I should use to clean it. Any suggestions please?

I have cleaned it lots of times (my usual method is that I put several layers of kitchen towel onto the warm plate, spray the kitchen towel with water, then just wipe off) but as it gets older and older, the non-stick coating has worn away. I now find that stuff is sticking to it quite badly and my cleaning method is not working anymore.
Was hesitant to scrub it with a scourer in case I took what little is left of the coating off, but I guess it's the only answer.

I can't decide whether I like it enough to buy another, I've not been overly impressed with it - I had it bought for me as a Christmas present a couple of years ago.
I've alway thought it a bit of a b*gger to clean, removable plates was a good idea. The surface area is a bit too small for my liking (I know you can get much bigger ones nowadays).

Buy a cast iron griddle for under �13.00 - click here to see an example and junk the George Formby. (That's what we called ours because it was nothing but a joke! I was glad when my partner knocked it down and shattered it.)
Place the griddle on the two front burners of your cooker and turn these on to a low/medium heat...it'll do exactly what the GF does, although obviously it doesn't do both sides simultaneously. But turning a slice of bacon isn't too much effort really! After a little practice, you'll learn how to adjust the heat-level.
The greatest beauty of it is that, once you've finished using it, you simply lob it into a sink partly-filled with warm water... Try doing that with a GF!..it's clean in a jiffy.
