I take all of the outdoor decorations down on Jan. 1. Better too soon than too late, if you ask me. There is nothing worse than seeing a house which has the outdoor strings of Christmas lights up year-round... in the summertime it is the tackiest thing to behold. If you have a fresh-cut Christmas tree indoors, it should come down around Jan. 1 anyway, before it gets so dry that it becomes a fire hazard. As for other indoor decorations that only your family can see, it's up to you, but I myself would not leave them up much into January. I put mine up around November 30 so that I can enjoy them a whole month before I take them down around New Year's. I think it's more acceptable to have decorations up a ways before Christmas than it is to keep them up after Christmas is over.
