Sensible answers only please: All weekend I have been hearing an odd noise in my bungalow. It's a very faint "bing bong" like the noise you hear on an aircraft or just before a PA announcement - but very quiet. It's clearer in some rooms than other and i can't hear it outside. I have checked everything electrical i can think of and have found nothing - driving me crackers!! Any ideas???
Put it down to the mini heatwave we have been having. Heat as we all know causes things to expand. A loose wall tie, some metal somewhere. All things expand some more than others.
STOP PRESS: Mystery Solved!!! The noise has stopped as so has my tooth brush!!! It's one of the throw away Colgate ones and it seems to have died a death!!! The beeping got very faint and I opened the bathroom cabinet and ot slightly louder and then it stopped!!! Hurray!!! Thanks for all your help ...... have wasted a whole evening creeping aound the house, listening ....... mystery sold!!!
I am laughing along with you all - seriously lost sleep last night as kept hearing it....... and it's so simple it's ridiculous. If nothing else you all made me realise I was NOT going mad and the noise really did exist!!
One thing that hasn`t been mentioned is a water-leak detector. I had the same problem last year and had forgotten about it as about three years ago we had a leak from our upstairs bathroom which ruined our wallpaper and carpets so I bought a gadget which touches the floor and if we had another leak it would sound a high pitch beep, but the battery went flat and omitted that noise for a couple of days until I found out what it was.
