This is the first year that you should expect to see any fruit and then only if the vines have been properly pruned and trellesed in the intervening years. we have a grape vine which is about 15 years old and grows over our pergola. we've never (until this year) done anything to it - no pruning - and every year, apart from the first, it's produced lots of black grapes. this year, as it was getting out of hand, we've cut it right back to the stem and started again, so it will remain to be seen as to whether or not it produces anything next year. we're 'up north' in the uk.
