my grandaughter has moved into student digs, she has her own toilet and bathroom, but the bath is covered in grime, I have tried the usual mr Muscle, Ciff etc but it wont budge, dont want to use plain bleach as that will remove the top surface, any suggestions.

What sort of bath is it?

If it is enamel then the smooth top layer may have worn off and it will never look clean.

You could try bicarbonate of soda on a damp cloth.

Another thought, have you tried Viakal or Lime-lite ? It might be Limescale build up, which stains. The Viakal is best, & it comes in a spray bottle...magic stuff !
