coving

i am working around the house with DEcorlite coving, i have been using one of those .50p type mitre templates which is a bit hit and miss so i thought i would invest in a proper mitre box (made by Artex) i seem to be getting worse results with this !!! just dont seem to be getting equal angles , any suggestions or tips as to where i am going wrong ?

Are you working to a chalk line on the wall?

You'd get better results if you used plaster coving. They come in 3m, 3.6m, & 4.4m lengths. A bit tricky to handle, but you don't get any joints, & you can fill the mitres in the corners with adhesive.

once up and painted looks the same as the real thing..and the joints can be filled no problem, just getting the hump that a cant get perfect joints..better the joint less filling required

You'll only get perfect joints if the room is exactly square...not much chance of that. If you use long lengths you don't get any joints....no filling.

I am not an expert by any mean. But I had the same problem with my coving. Then I bought what you bought earlier, didn't work. I had a mitre box and saw. There were instructions on the coving wrap. I followed that with mitre saw and managed to get as close as I possibly could. You have to try holding coving in the mitre saw not flat nor standing on the side. Just somewhere in the middle to get a tilt.
