The old adage eve is, anything you have not worn in the last year throw out. I don't think this always works there are a few things that I only wear very occasionally but you will know if you have anything like that, so throw all the rest out. If you have a daughter or a good friend that you trust you could always do it together, good luck,
tomking (I am female!!)
........unlike tomking.........I'm not female, but, I've just had an idea..............probably a very male idea.....................go out for the day.............give the key to a really close friend with good taste.............and give them carte blanche to throw say.......50%

I`m terrible for keeping clothes. Now & again though I get ruthless & have a good clear out. I normally get EVERYTHING out, try them on & throw out the too small/big stuff. With the rest I decide what`s been there the longest & out they go. I used to keep items "incase", but those days have gone.
I'd agree with Tomking, I would sort it out into "When was the last time I wore it" piles, and bin anything longer than 12-18months.

Don't forget you can give all the wearebl stuff to charity
evedawn, I'm doing mine tonight and I'm dreading it! I've been putting it off for months. None of it fits me anymore, but I hate getting rid of anything in case I regret it. I am going to try and be really ruthless, then dump it all in the middle of one room and let my mum and sister race each other to it. :)

I'll probably have to do it twice, though: keep, throw, maybe and then go through the maybe pile again. :)

thanks for your tips....

I did have a clearout (well a mini one) got rid of about 10 items....should have got rid of alot more but...oh i need to keep em for "just in case"

Like whiskey i think i will have to have another go at it again

PS...run builder run!
Have a mega clearout but put stuff in a bag somewhere separate.

If you haven't touched in say a month then give it to charity.

You will be more ruthless as it's not so final and then more likely to give them away as you know you don't wear them.

Yup - thats a good idea Jen - may be easier that way. I don't usuallya ccumulae clutter n stuff but in the past i have tossed too many outfits only to want em back a few months later!
