new clutch?
1 Answers
I've got a 1998 Ford Escort that I've had about 5 years Just recently I've noticed how poor the acceleration has become. This is particularly noticeable at junctions and roundabouts, where the lack of acceleration is becoming quite dangerous. I'm also finding it a real struggle driving uphill as the car keeps coming out of gear and the revs shoot up and as the bite on my clutch is now very high, I'm wondering whether it's now just worn out. Any ideas?

Clutches aren't that expensive to replace. Alternatively, it could be a worn out carburettor causing the loss of power - especially if the revs are dropping very low and the car sometimes stalls.
