Could somebody please tell me what different sized beds are called. Do they go in this order (smallest - largest), single, double, queen, king........or is a queen size bed smaller than a double? I am looking for the UK sizes and am looking for a bed that is wider than a single, but not quite a double. Thanks xx

As far as I am aware the in between bed you are looking for is simply callled - a three quarter bed. Thatswhat I have always known them as anyway.
I agree with Greedyfly. I believe a queen size is larger than a double. I don't know the exact measurement, and it seems to depend where you look, but I am sure this is the one you want.
I did a search at www.google.com and put in the search box: mattress size + UK and found this site. http://www.mattress.com/service/sizes.php Newt
Divan is the word you're looking for.
There is a bed which is between a single 2'6" or 3'  & a double which is 4'6" - , it is called a '4 foot bed'.
