Am looking on the internet at agas for sale second hand - ideally I want to run it on gas. However not knowing anything about them is there anywhere I can go to get professional advice as to what to look for when viewing a prospective purchase. Its a little bit like buying a car and I have no engineering qualifications. I can practically hear voices resonating around the country as everyone reading this screams DONT DO IT YOU FOOL - but any thoughts or advice would be appreciated - ideally it would be great to meet someone in London who could A. look at them with me and B. get the job of fitting it into my house for me. Thanks
Might not be a lot of helps but SIL was looking at second hand aga ( he is very hands on ) and decided against it having done loads of research. He was quoted 600 to dismantle it and would prob need new bricks. The one he was looking at was a baby blue solid fuel and it broke his heart to walk away from it. ( he has installed 2 rayburns in the past and is now getting a new woodburning boiler.) Post again if you want me to pick his brains for you.
No, he's nothing to do with me, but this is the sort of chap you are after and Newbury is only 60 miles from London. There are probably others like him. If you are buying secondhand from a commercial outfit, they will surely install.
