preserving paint and vinyl
0 Answers
Hello. I have a very unusual "how to" question for you. We were storing some furniture for relatives and grew tired of looking at the mattress and box springs propped against the wall; so -- on a lark -- I purchased a cheap mattress protector (vinyl, I believe), spread it on the garage floor and suggested my husband create a "Pollock" painting (with various cans of leftover interior latex paint we had) that we might use to make the mattress less of an eyesore. He did. We love it. The furniture has since been retrieved. Now I would like to frame and hang the painting, but worry it will deteriorate quickly because of the materials we used. Is there anything I can do to preserve it? Something I could coat it with perhaps that would keep the vinyl from tearing or crumbling in the future, yet wouldn't adversely affect the paint? Thank you in advance. amateurpainter
