My mother bought one of those metal frame round 15ft swimming pools. We're just emptying it as it has gone all green and nasty on the bottom. We used the filter and algicide regularly. Any advice on what else we can do to stop this happening again.
Thanks, NFN

you need to keep it topped up with chlorine, or stabilised chlorine granules or tablets , some complete with alagacide. I do mine in the summer every day !
i have an 18' and i learnt very early on if you dont keep on top of it the algae can spread quickly,(especially in warm weather) only happened to me once, lesson learnt. You dont need to empty the pool as there are chemicals that will clear it, the filter only filters debris not algae. Not emptied mine in 8 years,i just lower the level for winter.
quick tip- chemicals are far cheaper of the internet than a local dealer, up to 50% , i must spend 60-80 a year on chemicals the amount of use i get out of it with the good old english weather it would probably be cheaper to go to the local swimming pool!, having said that i have tought 2 of my grandsons to swim in it before they were 6 years old so worth every penny.

being 15' it should be easier & cheaper to keep on top of than mine, fingers crossed for a decent summer..

Well we've just spent 5 hours dealing with flash floods at work this afternoon, 4 fire engines and countless firemen so the pool is full to overflowing at the moment!!
