I would highly recommend the Miele, it's the best vacuum cleaner I've ever used and I've used many including the Dyson, which I hated.

The Miele is quiet and powerful and you can change the suction intensity by turning a dial. It sucks up debris along the skirting boards too and the tubes are easy to put on and remove, also adjusting in length to suit different heights.

We got the basic model, which is still brilliant and it cost about 99 from Comet 2 years ago, think it was reduced by about 50 at the time.

I have a Hoover Lightweight 1900W.............I bought this as I have arthritis and needed something light.......I also didn't want something with a bag........after 2 years I'm still pleased with it.......
I've got a bagless Panasonic MC-E4063 which
I bought in Argos ..it does up to the edges and
the handle folds down for easy storage ..it does
the bizz and i'm well pleased with it .
Dyson!!! definately... Love em
Have to agree with velvetee, miele is definitely the best. Bought mine a few months ago and when I took the defunct Dyson for recycling, was told its mostly Dyson's that are being thrown out.

Have been looking at Miele and Panasonic, also considered an Electrolux, my previous one was a Hoover Purepower and wasn't too impressed with it so might give Hoover a miss this time, not too sure about the Dysons so it looks like it might be a bit more homework on the Miele and Panasonic. Thank you all very much appreciate your comments, x

Miele gets my vote. It's great. You get what you pay for.
No more cheap brands for me.
soz but i buy cheap because vacuum cleaners and me just don't get on i get through 2/3 a year.

i`ve also had a dyson, and Miele and i found the suction to powerful on laminate flooring

henry is good,
Henry , had mine about 8 years and its still as powerful
I recommend Gordon Brown's mother; she sucks like a dream.
Must say that the Henrys seem to last for ages, but I don't think you can beat a Vax. They're powerful, fairly quiet, easy to empty and clean - and mine came with a 10 year guarantee. Yes, you read that right. Brilliant.
Henry is brilliant, I've got one and my daughter has had one for 19 years with no problems.
Henry is brilliant, I've got one and my daughter has had one for 19 years with no problems. get one that takes a bag otherwise the filters clog up every 5 minutes.
I don't rate the dysons as after some time they loose the suction. I brought a henry 3 years ago and its still as good as when i brought it.
depends what you need..... vax sucks the carpet off the floor but you need muscles (big ones) they are hard work .Henry great if you have hard floors or maybe carpets and no pets...mines a bosch extraxx 17...purrfect everthing my old dyson wasn't
I love my Dyson had it years . By far the best I have ever bought.
HI Angie.
I think it depends what you want to spend.
I have one of the original Dysons which I think is the best thing since sliced bread (DC01) When it needed servicing I took it into the shop and the guy said never get rid of it till it blows up as the newer ones need the filters replacing very often and they are very expensive. I also have an Electrolux pet Lover Velocity 1700w. This is an upright also and although it is slightly heavier than the Dyson cleans really well. It has a turbo head which attaches to the hose for furniture and stairs and does a wonderful job.
It is a minefield out there so I wish you luck.
im a gas engineer and use different householders vacumns everyday, i would definately go for a Henry, they're cheap and do the job, dysons are a nitemare, overpriced tat !
