All cucumber plants, regardless of variety, produce male and female flowers. The males always fall off and produce no cucumbers. The females are pollinated by the males and eventually fall off. If you have no insects, especially bees, they may not be pollinating. Additionally, if you've experienced a run of really hot weather, the flowers could wither and fall... More watering can help that situation. Cucumbers take a lot of water... at least an inch a week, more's better as long as the soil isn't waterlogged...
except the all female varieties Clanad which as the name suggests, only produce female flowers (well most of the time anyway).

If fuggy is in the Uk then we have had a run of cold wet weather which is not helping the cucumber situation. and certainly not encouraging the bees to be active.
