Can someone tell me the correct name for the `Hopper ` like container at the top of a down pipe on the outside of a building, so I can compose a letter to my managing agents. I think its blocked or has a nest in it as water flows over the top and not down the pipe.

Thankyou M

hopper - or -hopper head
tho the blockage is prob in the down pipe and the water has backed up and escapes where it joins into the hopper head
I think you are right with the word hopper Mamyalyne.

Well thankyou I always like to be coherent as they often pretend not to know what I am on a bout. I am sure its making my wall damp.

Thanks again

It's also known in the trade as a ''rainwater head''. But if you call it a ''rainwater collector box at the top of the downpipe'' they should be able to work out what you're referring to!!
