I bought my current home about 3 years ago and it had a decent security system already fitted. Since then I've had extensive buidling work done which meant that the sensors were disconnected but have now been put back in place.
I can't use the system as I assume it will need a re-set due to the work done but despite numerous phone calls the guy who installed the kit will not come round and re-set it for me......I have since discovered he's a bit dodgy anyway.
Does this mean I will now have to fork out for a whole new system fitting?

no, any decent alarm install company should come and sort the current system out (even if it involves resetting it to factory and starting again)

If somebody tells you you need an entire new system they are probably trying to rip you off.

thanks Chuck.......my brother told me I'd have to get a new system.
Do you think the police would recommend a company or should I just look in YP....
actually the police isn't a bad idea.

Either that or yellow pages, or just keep an eye out around your town at alarm boxes on peoples walls. If you see one local number on more boxes than any other number that would be a good bet too.

cheers Chuck....
How have you been paying for this security system. I was under the impression that there was a monthly monitoring fee and contract for a home security system. As a result, home alarm companies would be ready to go and serve you when it came to maintenance.

Perhaps you should look into good home security companies that would prevent this in the future: http://www.buyerzone....ome-security-systems/
Don't worry, i can understand your problem. Security is important part of life and your assets and your property. Just call to another installer and tell him your problem. He will charge more from you but you will get rid from your problem and get proper solution.

Well, your old security system is not monitored by security service company. Maybe that is the reason they don't come to reset it.
If you still want to use the old one, you may have to pay them to do. (Ask them how much it charges)
If the cost is more than $100 or so, you can buy a new one with wireless connection and DIY.
