Homemade paper logs
5 Answers
Going to start making my own logs using one of those paper "squeezers" (soak shredded paper, place in machine, press paper into log shape and squeeze water out...leave to dry)
Anyone used one ? any hint and tips ? what about adding a few hickory chips to the paper to make it smell nicer or add something to the water ?
Ta muchly

thanks for the help though. i suppose, being in a garden, i could add sprigs of rosemary or even eucalyptus to the logs as well as citrus zest and other herbs.
Thanks again

don't burn them damp as it will increase the tar deposits in the chimney. If you keep doing it long enough the tar will soak through the chimney breast and discolour the wall.
Traditional chimneys in the UK are designed to use coal as this gives a hotter and drier exhaust with no condensation as there is almost no hydrogen in coal. Burning dry wood requires an impermeable flu as there is a lot of water produced.
