Just tried fitting a new battery to a Seiko wristwatch but it still doesn't work. On the inside of the removeable back is a sticker that has the following printed on it ; " after fitting battery, short AC with + of battery" - can anyone throw any light on this please

Oh dear, oh dear...AC stands for the 'All Clear' pad and shorting out the battery + to this pad (which is probably a solder blob!) will reset the watch. There's advice for doing this on a Timex watch here...

Use a magnifying-glass to see if anything is labelled AC (Casio helpfully label the "earthing-post" AC, otherwise it probably is just a blob of solder! Use a straightened-out paper-clip to connect this to the +ve terminal.
