I would say it's degraded powder residue in the bottom of the drawer opening and drum inlet. Best way is to take out the whole drawer unit .. inner and outer from top under cover and clean out that and the rubber inlet pipe/trap with a bottle brush and flash with bleach.
Often they small when machine starts to pump out. This is a 'slug' of smelly air from the drain system. Same goes for that. I don't think there's an easy way.
Only chance is a very hot wash with a bit of bleach in the water. Rinse afterwards and reclean door seal completely <-- important.

Make sure you clean it out as Albags says every so often. And then do the hottest wash you can without adding anything to the wash.
Oh dear Lord, that was a manky machine.

Run your machine empty, with bleach (to shift any mould) and a 90 boil wash to kill bacteria. Along with the old brush in the crevices, it really is the only way.
