Growing chillis from seed...

I should start by saying I have zero knowledge of horticulture :/
Just to see what would happen, I planted some seeds from some supermarket bought chillis in a pot, which previously had some (shop bought) parsley growing in it.
A week later I now have four shoots growing :)
TBH I didn't expect anything to happen, but now that I have these shoots I'd like to try and help them grow.
What do I do next?
Do I separate the shoots into their own pots?
Do they need sunlight? Warmth? Or am I flogging a dead horse thinking I might be able to grow my own chillis?

I`m hopeless at growing things too but I grew some chillies in the summer. I bought them when they were in those little individual thumb sized pots so I presume you have to separate them eventually. Unless you have a propegator I would think it`s too early in the year. They have to be out where the bees can pollonate the flowers (or you can do it yourself with a little eyeshadow brush) but I would think you`d have more luck if you grew them in the spring.

I've successfully grown chillis from seed. I would wait until they have developed 2 sets of leaves and then carefully repot so you have one per pot. They need lots of light, but ordinary room temperature should do. To ripen the chillis they need lots and lots of sunlight.

Living in flat doesn't offer much opportunity for horticulture but I've put the pot on the kitchen windowsill, which being south facing gets some sun (such as it is this time of year). Looking again, I've got 5 shoots now, only one with 2 leaves on it.
As regards replanting, is there some particular compost/soil/whatever I should put them in?

Well done, I love growing Chillis, when they all have two sets of leaves, replant in some shop bought compost, as you don't have your own, anysort will do. Keep them on the kitchen windowsill, and keep well watered but not wet. Once they start to flower, in late spring start to feed once a week with some dilute tomato feed. When its warm enought to have the window open a bit they'll pollenate, so don't worry about that.

You'll have chillis growing well into January next year. Dry em, freeze em, enjoy em

Had to Google 'tomato feed' but good advice anyway. I'd missed 237SJ's advice about propogation (possibly as it sounded a bit too much like my biology classes from 30 odd years ago). Not the only class I should've paid more attention to ;)
