phone that works in building with thick walls

Hi all, need a new landline cellphone that will work well in a house that has about 9 inch thick walls. present phone looses signal quickly when moved away from main line. any ideas gratefully received. TA

I can answer on one of the phones, and if necessary, set it aside, go into another part of the house and pick up a different extension phone, and carry on the conversation. It's a cheaper option than buying a repeater for around £120 that may or may not work throughout your house. (and, by the way, which is shown to be 'currently unavailable' through Chuck's link!)
Thanks to you all for the input. Have been looking at the BT Verve 450 and it appears to hopefully suit the bill. The house is a converted WW2 airfield control tower and I'm telling you the walls are THICK and signal is lost very quickly away from the base phone. Will give it a whirl, can't be any worse than what we've got. ;)
