What is the significance of white painted fire engines used by forces?

i dont think there is a signifigance. I think its just a matter of preference. I've seen greenish yellow, blue, red, white, black/red. But i'm in the USA, if your not, it may be different in your country.

In the UK they are green.  Hence, the "Green Godesses"

They are not all green in the armed forces. Some red or white. I dont think there is a significance.

Tradional red fire engines show up very dark under sodium lighting. White ones are more visible at night..

They are fire appliances that have been used in United Nations operations and have not been re-painted the usual olive drab.

Don't know about the forces but in Aberdeen the civilian Fire Brigade used white fire engines for years.  Higher visibility or just saving the cost of red paint I don't know.
