When you miss a call and dial 1471, sometimes the operator says 'the caller withheld their number' and some times they say 'sorry we do not have the callers number..' Can anyone explain the difference?
I think what happens is - when the caller choses to withhold their number by dialling whatever it is one dials to do that you get the 'caller withheld their number' - when you get the other message it's usually a switchboard, call centre etc.
I think when it says 'witheld' it means that someone dialled 141 before calling. if there is no caller number it will automatically unavailable is it is set up that way. When I dial out from work the number comes up as unavailable.
