Hi all,

I've recently put a tv up for auction with no 'buy it now' price. Although somebody has offered me a decent price to buy it now and take down the auction. Does anybody know how I go about this? I assume I have to 'end' the auction but if I do that will he still be able to buy it?
I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to this stuff!

Any help is much appreciated

Cheers

Yes, I've done this.

You don't have to end the auction, otherwise you have to go through allt he listing process again. What I do is to "Revise your item" by adding the BIN price to the listing (you have to pay a small fee for BIN, but hey ho), and then list it with an auction price AND a BIN price.

However, before you do that I'd contact the person who's offered you that price, telling them that you're about to do this so they can bid straight away as soon as the BIN price is added - otherwise someone else might nip in before them and pip them to the post!

As soon as you list it, and the buyer buys it on the BIN basis, the auction ends and the item listing finishes. I hope this helps.
Unless your TV already has a bid then you can't revise it but you can still cancel the listing until 12 hours before it ends

Otherwise what boxtops said
but he isn't going to sell outside eBay?

OP as an aside as well, is this a collection item? Only take cash on collection if it is

Agree with Edde's option 2, that's what I do and it works OK.

you could remove the item from the auction, then send the buyer a paypal request for the money. this way you would not pay any ebay commision.

Hi all, thanks ever so much for all your help. There aren't any bids on it as of yet so hopefully I can still put a buy it now price in providing I can get hold of him.

You've all been very helpful, tis very much appreciated. You never know, someday I may fully be able to understand ebay...

I never accept those offers and always get more than the offer.
I tell them to bid if they want the item.
eddie...does that stuff sell well? my dad has loads of vintage cameras and wants to sell them, but wasnt sure ebay was the right place...

Thanks eddie51, I shall defo bear that in mind. I ended up taking the offer and ending the auction early (as last time the same item went to the highest bidder but he was a complete timewaster). I've tried it this way, organised a time to pick it up then of course....he didn't show up. Great.
