Iv'e recently started work for a care firm, i only work 16 hrs per week, but as i don't pay tax i'm not entitled to claim for any mileage, is there another way I would be able to claim it back ?... as this is becoming a huge chunk out of my wages every week ..

If 5% of wages are going to a third party, I wonder if it's an agency post - so many care workers are employed through agencies, which is a whole different kettle of fish.
Yes, Boxtops - as I suggested earlier this morning.
No one has mentioned the fact that if you use your car to commute to and from work, then that is normally covered by your insurance. However, if you use your car to carry out your work, then you should tell your insurance company as it constitutes a change of normal use. You may have a serious problem if you are involved in an accident travelling between clients, apart from damage to yourself or your car.
Clara are you classed as self employed? That is the only way you would claim back your tax.

If your tax is deducted at source then they should give you an allowence, your being ripped off plain and simple.
