i think they are called that anyway...the cordless landline things

ive had about 4 or 5 in the last couple of years and the battery just goes totally flat after so long and wont charge up...... or i have problems like i can get a call but not call out cos as i dial the number it disappears off screen and goes dead..... the phones have been different makes so i cant really blame a poor manufacturer. The thing is i have the landline sat on top of a big floor speaker...could the magnets in the speaker be interferring with it or would it just be coincidence? i had to buy more yesterday but this time moved the phone cradle just in case but it looks odd stuck on the windowledge ....

pdust, no need to keep buying new phones, just remove the batteries and recharge them.
I keep the phone off the charger all day (c16hrs) and only put it on the rest at night, can't remember when I replaced the batteries last.

thanks tony but ive tried that as they usually come in packs of two phones so i use the extra phone or its batteries and no joy... maybe ive just been unlucky and bought faulty ones or something..... they always seemed fine when they were in the hallway for some reason

thanks sibton, ive tried that too but no still happens :(
Sounds strange, maybe it's back to the hallway then.

:( looks that way tony..... grrrr the shelf in hallway is only big enough for router or phone and router works best in that socket lol..... guess i should have bought a bigger shelf instead of new flipping phones......
If they are all different makes I think you might be correct about the speaker. Leave it on the window ledge or if it looks too add build a little shelf for it somewhere and see if it works better away from the speaker.

I had one for 10 years before the battery stopped accepting charge properly and the one I have now is a cheap supermarket cordless phone - works fine.

thanks maid up..... i have just said to my son i think i should have just bought a cheap £5 ordinary phone, they had some in town but i like to walk round while im gabbing lol
After a while the batteries won't take a charge anymore. Buy new rechargeable batteries and they should be fine. I've done it with a couple of different phones with no problems.
