Bongella, or oil of cloves from the chemist, put it on some cotton wool and place on tooth.  Even a drop of whiskey on cotton wool, may help.
Neurofen plus. Has the highest dose of codeine without prescription.

Oil of cloves - definately - rub it in to the gum around the tooth -it's a great topical anaesthetic.

Your local chemist will have it

Mouth wash with vinegar as hot as you can take it
Caution her before she uses oil of cloves however - it's the most rancid tasting stuff in the universe and she should really try not to swallow any - make sure she has a spit bowl available. It does really work though!

Clove oil is really good so i have heard: but there is a gel called gengi gel you can buy it as a mouth wash of a gel cost about 7 mouth wash and 4 gel, really works. from BOOTS

or what i was advised to do was rub a soluble asprin on the effected area (make sure you can take asprin)

clove oil for sure

My dentist advised me to use Neurofen Plus as its primarily a soft tissue drug (?) and therfore the pest painkiller for toothache!
Oil of cloves is excellent - if used sparingly. However, if it is an abcess, which can be bloody agony - see your GP or NHS walk in centre & get some antibiotics - they'll work in about 24/48 hours
Best thing is a tot of whisky. Always works for me!! Just take a mouthful and hold it in the mouth over the offending tooth. It will go all 'pins and needles' after 5 -10 mins, then spit it out (if,like me, you don't like whisky), otherwise, swallow it!!
calgel teething gel works (yeah i know its meant for babies) u just rub it on the affected tooth and it works almost instantly & it tastes ok.

Ambusol from the chemist is great and it doesn't make the skin in your mouth peel away. Have been advised to use this by chemists themselves, as they have concerns about using clove oil for extended periods.
I agree oil of cloves, but a couple of alternatives :-
soluble aspirin as a mouth wash.
Whiskey also as a mouthwash.
Not both though.
