Recently changed from Sky to BT because it's cheaper.
We still have old telly [not wide screen] and on some programmes you get a black border down the sides. Never happened with Sky. If the border is top and bottom I can zoom in on old telly remote. Do I have to suffer this until I update my telly?

I'm a layman but yes, I believe it's due to the TV - we'd get these e.g on some films on our old telly. Sorted once we got a new flat screen jobby.
^ and we're with BT too
Do you have a digibox of some sort?

Go into settings and make sure it is set for screensize 4:3 not 16:9

Thank you. Put up with it then as long as the telly works. Bit short of the old brass just after Christmas to buy a new one.
