i sent some Australian friends a small gift several weeks before Christmas, which they haven't received. I am given to understand they have an appalling postal service in Oz, so it could simply have got lost, but is there any way to try and trace it there. or even from the UK?
will have to think whether i got a receipt, i may not have done.
if not what other options would there be, i am seriously upset they didn't get it, it was expensive to post, though not a very expensive gift.
I posted an item to Australia. It was a fishing reel (?) sold it on ebay. Cost £12 to get it tracked. Posted it on Saturday morning arrived with the recipient just outside Canberra on Tuesday 10 days later.
If you can remember the Day / Date / Time/ the post office,Can you remember the person that served you? I would go there and explain your concern Emmie, did you send it 2nd Class? Have you a receipt for the Item Bought? If so take that with you.
no receipt for the item, i know which post office, i will look to see if i can find a post office receipt, i thought might be able to track it there.
My friends said that their postal service is hopeless, they get lots of other peoples mail, that much goes missing, that her son has regular deliveries of goods for his work, and nine times out of ten they end up in the sorting office, where he has to go an find them
Emmie, If I'd purchased a gift, paid the postage to anywhere in the world & the parcel did not arrive, I would claim It's as simple as that, why should they get away with bad service, they are in breach of contract.
You can only claim a) if you have the receipt or a proof of posting, though, unless you sendt by an international tracker service. Once it's left the UK, Royal Mail have no jurisdiction or way of tracking it.
I sent a parcel to Oz once, I had to send it surface - even that took 54 days to arrive, so they should have received your package by now.
Did you remember to attach a properly completed CN22 form to the package? Without it items are routinely impounded by Ozzy Customs (as I found out the hard way when I forgot to attach one myself!)
i am not after claiming anything, just trying to find the info on who best to contact our PO or theirs, i will start with ours, but i am not sure i have a receipt or postage. It was more than two weeks before Christmas, and it wasn't until my friend phoned me the other day i knew she hadn't received it.
>>>unless they think British country scenes on a calendar as naughty
Well, they certainly don't like copies of the England Cricket Annual, Emmie! I sent one to the former star of the school cricket team that I ran (whose family had emigrated to Oz), as a Christmas present, but it never got there. When I tried to find out what had happened to it, I was told that any package without a CN22 is automatically impounded for breaching customs regulations.
